KIWI CHRISTMAS
As you know our teacher assistant is from New Zealand. These days, we're learning a little bit more about Christmas in her country.
In New Zealand Christmas is a celebration in the middle of summer, a time to be outdoors and enjoying the sunshine. Most decorations will be Christmas trees or a summery take on a traditional Christmas decoration. It is most certainly still an enormously important holiday for Kiwis and the Christmas spirit is embraced by many.
Christmas Day itself is usually celebrated with friends and family and tends to be a casual relaxed day spent outdoors in the garden or on the beach. Christmas dinner will often consist of a ham, a range of barbecued meats or fish and a range of salads. For dessert there would traditionally be a Pavlova (see picture) somewhere on the table.

We're learning a beautiful Christmas song from New Zealand. We love it!
And, of course, a traditional one...!
