ENGLISH UNIT 1: THINGS WE'RE GOOD AT

Dear Parents,

Your child has now had their first few lessons using Footprints 4 and has met the course characters Emily, Jack and Sam. The main aim of the introductory lessons has been to give your child the opportunity to remember and practise the language that they have already learned and to build their confidence in their ability to learn English. Your child has also learned how to ask and say what they like and dislike doing and make and respond to suggestions.

The topic of Unit 1 is what we are good at. In this Unit, your child will learn how to ask and talk about what activities and school subjects he/she is good at and also understand and talk about the time and school routines.

In Unit 1 your child will learn about how we all excel and like to learn in different ways. Your child will complete his/her own book called ‘My Little Fact File of Things I’m Good At.’ Your child will also learn about the Vikings and about schools and the subjects children do at school in Britain. They will also learn a tongue twister to practise articulating English consonants.

In this unit your child will have the opportunity to read and write questions and answers about what he/she is good at and about school timetables. Your child will also read short texts about school activities and write a short text about his/her favourite subject at school, following a model.

I hope you and your child enjoy this unit,

Mrs. Eva
