NEW ZEALAND "KORU"

What is a Koru?
The koru shape is a scroll shape and is linked to the New Zealand fern plant. The shoot of the fern has a curled-over tip which unfurls and becomes a fernleaf.
The koru reaches towards the light, striving for perfection, encouraging new positive beginnings.
The koru, represents the unfolding of new life, that everything is reborn and continues. It represents renewal and hope for the future.
Spiral, geometry of life.
Our teacher assistant is from New Zealand and she helped us to create a cover for our Arts and Crafts portfolio. Look at some of our wonderful creations!!!

ARTS AND CRAFTS

ELEMENTS OF ART

THE COLOR WHEEL

Dear Parents,

Your child has now had their first few lessons of English using Footprints 3 and has met the course characters Emily, Jack and Sam. The main aim of the introductory lessons has been to give your child the opportunity to remember and practise the language that they have already learned and to build their confidence in their ability to learn English. Your child has also learned how to ask and say personal information such as where they live and what their telephone number is.

The topic of Unit 1 is daily routines. In this Unit, your child will learn how to ask and talk about time (o'clock and half past) and daily routines. Here you have some videos, songs and games your child may use.

PRACTICE TELLING TIME TO THE HOUR

Watch and listen to this video. Then, practice drawing the hands on a clock to tell time to the hour.

PRACTICE TELLING TIME TO THE HALF HOUR

Watch and listen to this video. This time, practice drawing the hands on a clock to tell time to the half hour

Dear Parents,

We are almost finished with Unit 1: Living things. In this unit, your child learnt to:

·       Identify and differentiate between living and non-living things
·       Identify and differentiate between natural and man-made non-living things
·       Understand the life processes of plants, animals and people
·       Recognise life processes in people
·      Listen to, read and understand a story about a sea life
·       Write a simple text about living and non-living things near me

Additionally in this unit, your children have investigated how plants interact and what happens to a plant if they
place it by a window and turn it away from the Sun.

Here you have some resources about this topic.
